JDI awarded the 2021\u00a0Economic Empowerment grants totaling\u00a0<\/span>$10,000<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span>10<\/span>\u00a0sexual and domestic violence programs\u00a0<\/span>on behalf of 11 survivors from across the Commonwealth.\u00a0 The grants reflect the <\/span>resilience, creativity, and dedication of survivors. Funding for these grants was made possible with support from The Allstate Foundation\u2019s Purple Purse program.<\/span><\/p>\n WHY\u00a0IT MATTERS:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Victims of sexual and domestic violence experience many hardships when it\u00a0<\/span>comes to economic stability and independence.\u00a0\u00a0A frequent aspect\u00a0of domestic violence occurs\u00a0in the form of financial abuse, which\u00a0can result in ruined credit scores,\u00a0an\u00a0inability to pay for training and education, and limited experience managing finances.\u00a0\u00a0Additionally, survivors who experience sexual assault or stalking while in high school and college\u00a0are\u00a0more likely to drop out\u00a0and have difficulty completing coursework, disrupting their educational\u00a0plans\u00a0and impacting their long-term earning potential.\u00a0With such formidable barriers in place, it is\u00a0paramount for survivors to have access to\u00a0resources\u00a0and support\u00a0in order to\u00a0establish financial stability and\u00a0gain\u00a0autonomy over their\u00a0decisions,\u00a0careers, and passions —\u00a0economically and otherwise.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” min_height=”1094px” custom_padding=”30px||0px|||” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_margin=”||-470px|||”][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” min_height=”568px” custom_padding=”0px|||||” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_testimonial _builder_version=”4.17.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n \u201cBuenos dias.
